Andreas Pereira: One More Chance To Impress

Pereira Joins Valencia On Loan.

With the transfer window in England done and dusted, many clubs completed some unfinished business. The transfer window for United was a successful one according to the boss, Jose Mourinho, who completed three signings, being, Lindelof, Matic, Lukaku and resigning Zlatan. Deadline day for United seemed a very calm one because Ed Woodward could not use his magic and pull one more rabbit out of the hat and sign one more player. United were linked with Gareth Bale, but missed out on him even though there was a deal in place, Bale apparently turned them down. Ivan Perisic ended up staying at Inter Milan, signing a new contract containing an ‘ANTI-UNITED’ clause inserted into it. United were also rumoured to make a deadline day move for Julian Draxler, Thomas Lemar and Riyad Mahrez

But as the window shut in England, there was still a day to go in Spain. La Liga side Valencia took advantage of the situation and have signed Andreas Pereira on loan for the 2017/18 season. There were no deals expected for the Brazilian, but Mourinho one again sent the starlet out to impress on loan to Spain, this time to Valencia. Last season, Andreas joined Granada on loan and highly impressed the coaches back in Manchester, which subsequently led to his addition in the pre-season squad in the USA, in which he had excelled. Many fans were shocked by the club’s decision and expected him to get a chance in the squad. But the main reason for loaning him out is excessive squad dept.

United already have Pogba, Carrick, Herrera, Fellaini, Matic dominating central midfield and Pereira would certainly would be deemed surplus of requirements with already five central midfielders and six wingers. Andreas who can play as an attacking midfielder and a winger would not get a clear chance in the squad and would have to settle for cup games and regular involvement in the reserve squad, with limited Premier League and Champions League action. He will definitely get regular game time at Valencia and once again look to impress the boss in a league which he is familiar too.
This seems to end his United career, right? You are wrong! Andreas has signed a one- year contract extension with the Red Devils before his move to Valencia, keeping him at the club until 2018/19 with an option to extend a further year. Jose is clearly thinking long term and has expressed his praise towards the young lad by saying “Andreas is a very good footballer. He is a young player with great natural ability and a good attitude towards continuing his development. I have no doubt that he has potential to be one of the FUTURE GREAT PLAYERS OF THIS CLUB.” The player was happy with the club’s decision had said, “The manager is building a great team here and I want to be a part of that as soon as possible. I am going to continue my development at Valencia this season in the hope that I will get plenty of minutes on the pitch.”

Carrick And Fellaini Could Leave The Club Next Year.

Unfortunately, Valencia are not in any European competitions this season, but Pereira will get enough game time in La-Liga, with the club aiming to reach the top six and attaining European football. They are currently undergoing transition and Andreas will certainly add quality to a young and energetic squad, by adding some Brazilian flair and samba to it. Mourinho stated earlier that it could be Carrick’s last year at the club, after which he could leave or hang up his boots and call it a day and retire. Fellaini has less than one year remaining at the club and is rumoured to have had a mutual verbal agreement with Turkish giants Galatasaray and Fenerbache over a potential move away, however it would be very unlikely he would leave anytime soon, given Mourinho’s love and affection for him. If he decides to leave, he could leave as soon as the January transfer window opens, as the club could earn some money out of him, instead of him leaving for free next season. It will not happen, but we never know. Given these situations, Andreas could have a better chance of making the first team next year.

McTominay Has Been Promoted To The First Team

But currently one young player, Scott McTominay is enjoying the moment, as the manager has officially promoted the young attacking midfielder to the first team squad and has included him in the 25- man Premier League squad. This gives Andreas some quality competition for places next season, should he be added in the squad next year, which we are confident he will. Until then we wish him best of luck for his loan spell at Valencia and hope he comes back an even better player and rightfully gets his place in the UNITED first team next season!
